Rokugo Irrigation Canal(六郷用水)
The Rokugo Irrigation Canal was an agricultural waterway built in the early Edo period.
Drawing water from the Tama River, it supplied irrigation to farmland across what is now Ota City, Tokyo.
The canal reflects the ingenuity of its builders, who made use of natural springs along the escarpment and even cut through hills where necessary.
Although most of the canal has since been filled in, parts of it have been restored as waterways, walking paths, and parks.
Exploring its route offers a glimpse into the history of water management and reveals traces of a landscape that once supported everyday life.
