Heading upstream, I traced the former riverbed along the base of the elevated cliff that rises on the right.

I wonder if newts once lived here. 🦎
There are several theories about the origin of the name “Imori River,” but one of the most widely accepted explanations is that it was once home to many newts.

The confluence with the Shibuya River. From here, I head upstream.

At the Y-shaped junction, the river’s course follows the left fork. From here, it runs along the side of the valley.
The building at the Y-shaped junction appears strikingly narrow, squeezed into the tight space.








I wonder if this might be a trace of the former river embankment.

There is a set of steps leading down to the riverbed.


Here, the river makes a sharp turn.
I wonder if this bend was artificially created.


The river flows along the side of Prince Hitachi’s residence.


The river flows along the grounds of Aoyama Gakuin University on the left, and it seems that its source once lay within the campus.
However, that pond has since disappeared.
